Biking in Punta Gorda, Florida, is easy. Punta Gorda offers a free-to-the-public bicycle loaner program, initiated by TEAM Punta Gorda, in partnership with the City of Punta Gorda. There are 44 bikes available at six locations. All you have to do is: 1) Check in with the hosting location; 2) Permit the copying of an ID and credit card (copies will be returned to the biker upon return of the bicycle); 3) Sign a Liability Release Form; and 4) Wear the helmet and use the lock provided while biking. Visit TEAM Punta Gorda’s website for more information and all they have to offer.
Police Chief Thomas Lewis has developed the Punta Gorda Trail Watch Program to educate and support users of the Punta Gorda Pathways. Pathways is a system of approximately 18 miles of biking and pedestrian trails and paths that connect the City’s neighborhoods, parks and commercial areas. The most frequently used by pedestrians and cyclists are the Harborwalk, Linear Trail and Shreve Street MURT, shown on the map in blue, yellow and pink. Visit the City of Punta Gorda’s website for more information.
